Well our kitchen is mostly complete if you havent seen pics (www.picasaweb.google.com/thelaserman36) today I bought a Blender/ food processor so I can make vindaloo from scratch. We purchased a Oster 16 speed on sale or 47 bucks at Macys or so we thought, the sale ended while we were on the checkout line so it ended up at 54bucks. Recipe as follows:
1 Large Onion
1.5 cups of diced tomatoes
2.5 tbsp of dist white vinegar
1 large garlic head
1 tsp of minced fresh ginger
1 tsp of tomato paste
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp of ground turmeric
.5 tsp paprika
.5 tsp cumin
.5 tsp of coriander
2 fresh chili sorano peppers de-seeded
1 tbsp of chili powder
2 tbsp of veg oil
1.5 lbs of chicken
3 medium sized potatoes
1.5 cups of chicken broth
2 tbsp of corn starch ( or just use 1 cup of broth)
Blend in food processor ingredients down to chili powder into a paste. Heat oil on med heat. Add paste and cook until golden 5-10 min.
Add chicken and potatoes, saute on high for 5min. Add broth, bring to boil then lower heat to simmer 20min covered. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook for additional 5-10 min or untill potatoes and chicken are fully cooked. Let sit 10 min(recipe adapted from epicurious.com)
Turned out very tasty. All our neighbors stopped by to find out what was cooking, they all liked it. And our neighbor Kenji ended up eating with us. Needless to say it was spicy. I ended up getting some of the sauce splashed on my eyebrow, it stings a bit. Oh aliza made rice!!
